Some Consultancy Work Undertaken

  1. Training of TFS Staff on Forest Inventory Data Analysis and Preparation of Management/Harvesting Plan KILORWEMP and NFBKP II September 2015.
    KILORWEMP joined hands with the National Forestry & Beekeeping Programme II (NFBKP-II, funded by the Finnish MFA through the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism) to train and enable district foresters to strengthen their skills and access to a practical method and tool to carry out robust inventories and formulate sound sustainable harvesting plans.
  2. Development of REDD+ Training Institute for SADC. The Southern African Development Community/ Deutsche Gesellschaft für Inter. Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) 2015
  3. Environmental and Social Safeguards of REDD+ Linking to Scenario of Land and Climate Change in the Tanzania. WWF, Tanzania Country Office 2014. The aim of this consultancy was to provide a coherent package of products related to biodiversity and environmental safeguards that can be embedded in the database of the National Carbon Monitoring Centre in Morogoro, and contribute to a Safeguards Information System. This follows work contracted to UNEP-WCMC and Sokoine University, funded by UN-REDD and NAFORMA in 2012/2013.
  4. Facilitation of the national training workshop for extension services and local communities on Rapid Carbon Stock Appraisal (RaCSA) in Wondogenet College of Forestry and Natural Resources, Hawassa University, Ethiopia organized by African Forest Forum November, 11-14 2013.

Locations: Amani, Nilo, Chome, Magamba, Mkingu, Uluguru, Udzungwa Scarp & Kilombero Nature Reserves and Udzungwa National Park. The project aims was to undertake a series of linked baseline studies for each of the 8 Nature Reserves and 1 National Park, resulting in baseline reports and data sets that can be used to measure progress over the 5 years of Norwegian funding. The main purpose of the baseline studies is to put in place solid pieces of work that can be used for measuring the progress and impact by the project, and that can also contribute to the better management of the Nature Reserves and National Park network overall.
