Blue Carbon, an entity based in the United Arab Emirates, and the Government of Tanzania, through the Tanzanian Forest Services Agency under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) today, kicking off a collaboration aimed at promoting sustainable forest management practices and lowering greenhouse gas emissions.
During the Blue Carbon team’s visit to Tanzania, the Chairman of Blue Carbon, Sheikh Ahmed Dalmook Al Maktoum, a member of the Dubai Royal Family, met with Samia Suluhu Hassan, President of the Republic of Tanzania.
The partnership will support the government’s efforts to conserve, manage, and register 8 million hectares of forest resources in the first phase, including 56,000 hectares of mangroves, and sell these credits under Article 6 of the Paris Agreement. This will strengthen the two countries’ collaboration in developing new carbon offset projects to support decarbonization goals.

The collaboration will also allow local communities to participate in carbon offset projects, promoting long-term economic growth and improving livelihoods.
The signing of the MoU demonstrates Blue Carbon’s commitment to promoting nature-based solutions to mitigate and adapt to the effects of climate change, as well as the company’s efforts to transition to low-carbon development.
Blue Carbon is a Dubai-based company founded by Sheikh Ahmed Dalmook Al Maktoum, a member of Dubai’s Royal Family. Under Article 6 of the Paris Agreement, the company was formed to create environmental assets, nature-based solutions, and to register carbon removal projects.
